Swing leftward, and you'll see a staircase leading up on your right. Acquire that, and then head down the corridor in the other direction. Shoot the tile out to find a Tome of Power (1/2). Next to that locker is a red tile that can be seen when you activate your mystical powers. In one of the lockers on your left, you'll find a $100 bag of Gold (6/23). Grab those, and then backtrack to the previous corridor, and with your back facing the dead nurses, head to the right. In addition, the room on the other side from where the man was found contains $100 worth of Gold sitting in a locker (5/23). Speak with him if you want, but it's the room on the left that's of real interest, since it contains a silver case holding $250 worth of Gold (4/23). Here, a man who was about to become a Nazi experiment sits cowering in a corner. Press rightward and continue forward through the darkened operating room. Here is where the Nazi stealth soldier killed those two nurses. ![]() You'll find an extremely bloody scene on the other side of the door. Go through the door at the far end of the office, near where the last piece of Intel was found. Be sure to grab the Intel on the desk at the far end of the room en route (2/6). The room on your right before the glass is empty, so you can ignore it, but on the left, you can proceed through. Turn left down the hallway now, and you'll see a ruckus on the far side of the glass. On the left side of the dead end, you can grab a $100 bag of Gold (3/23). ![]() With that in hand, head back to the hallway and move straight up to the dead end. Specifically, it's on the floor underneath an object at the far end of the room (2/23). ![]() In the room you encounter on your right, you can find $250 worth of Gold, but it's a bit obnoxious to locate. Work your way leftward down the corridor (if your back is facing the way you came), and open the next door on your right that's unlocked (many doors here, as you'll find, are permanently barred shut). You still won't encounter any enemies, so there's still nothing to worry about. ![]()

Even if you assume a font that is matched very closely to this em-square - are you just going to multiply the string length by this size? Unless it's monospaced and your text is ASCII-only, you have a lot to worry about: varying character widths, kerning and ligatures, wrapping behaviour, and of course other even simpler "string length" caveats like tabs, Unicode combining characters and control codes.SetOutputDimensions ( Dims dimensions) noexcept This property indicates the desired height of glyphs from the font.įor scalable fonts, the font-size is a scale factor applied to the EMīasically, you can control the size of the "em square". The CSS3 spec puts it more clearly than the CSS2 spec quoted in other answers: The actual interaction between what you set and what size you'll get is somewhat complicated. getClientRects() if you need to know how much space a run of text is/will take to display on the screen. font-size refers to the height needed to display the gamut of characters, but in the wild and woolly internet, there are always exceptions. Pixels are also relative to the display size, so 12px will be a different physical size on these displays: In fact, the hinting algorithm is often completely different at small sizes, and in professional work you'd probably use a different font entirely for sizes below 12pt. Pixelsīecause pixels are not typically a natural scale for fonts (different measurements are used for printing), the hinting algorithms may render fonts off by a pixel or two, particularly at small sizes, in order to retain the shape of the characters. While you can do your due diligence, you'll just have to accept that the web medium involves a certain level of variability that you can't control. Setting Type on the Web to a Baseline Grid. There are countless variables that come into play when rendering a page that may result in differences between users, such as browser, default fonts, zoom, smoothing, hinting, browser scaling, operating system scaling, etc.Ī List Apart (before they jumped the shark) has some good articles on standardizing font sizes and helping you get some level of similarity between browsers: For the WebĪs any good web designer knows, no things are equal. There are some caveats for font sizes when you're dealing with things on the web. Essentially, each font contains a set of algorithms that determine how the font should be rendered in a given context (various sizes, bold, italics, etc.).Ĭonsequently, the best way to figure out how a font will render in a given context is to render it and see. It's probably not obvious to most, but if you examine the licensing terms for fonts you'll notice that they're licensed as font software. ![]() It also means that there's no standard way to figure out how tall a certain character might be at any given size, aside from rendering the font. Fontsįonts themselves render glyphs in different ways (obviously, since fonts look different), and this means that a particular character will not necessarily render the same height across fonts. For proportional fonts, the space each character uses is more in line with its shape, relative to other characters, so i, j, and l are vary narrow, while w, m, and o are typically wider. For fixed-width fonts, the space each character takes up on the line is exactly the same (though the characters themselves may not quite be the same size as one-another. There is also an important distinction between proportional and fixed-width fonts. Width of glyphs varies between fonts, as you can see in the image above. ![]() Font height is measured or specified by the height of a line, which is the full height required to display the gamut of characters, including those that dip below the line, like j, and raised elements (accents on capitals, for instance) like Ê.įonts in order of appearance: Times New Roman, Courier New, Calibri, Consolas. ![]() ![]() ![]() Wireframes help UX and product teams think of a customer journey as a full flow instead of a set of screens. Those terms describe several experiences that are similar to or related to freeze, each with their own nuance. Now in talking or reading about freeze, you may encounter a number of other terms – like tonic immobility, death feigning, and orienting phase, just to name a few. And so instead, she might go into freeze. Īs a child, she would seek comfort and closeness from an attachment figure, like her mother. Take our client from earlier, for example. Many times, we see freeze in response to childhood trauma. You see, if a person can’t flee or if fighting is ineffective, then they may go into a state of paralysis. While the survival strategies fight and flight are more well-known, the freeze response has become increasingly identified and worked with over the past several years. ![]() What’s going on with your client? With the room now silent, you can hear her breath is rapid and shallow. She sits there motionless, her gaze averted and locked on a painting in the corner of your office. But then, you mention your client’s mother – the one who used to frequently hit your client when she was a young girl – and suddenly. You’re in a session with a client, and everything seems to be going smoothly. So, what can we do to work with the freeze response more skillfully in a session? The freeze response is complicated and nuanced – one small trigger can send a person into complete immobility. ![]() |
